"Assisting families and individuals of Delaware County in a collaborative effort by providing personal emergency assistance with dignity and respect in their time of need"
was a huge success. This community owned program was able to serve 445 families with 976 children and 156 shut-ins.
2008 HOLIDAY CLEARING HOUSE This year's clearing house was held at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Coliseum Building and the Buehler Barn on Saturday, December 13, 2008.
Because of the generosity of our community, we were able to provide food and gifts to 491 families and 168 senior/disabled households which is a record number. There were 1,125 children and 524 adult members of the families. On Saturday, Dec. 6th, food for nearly 18,000 meals were packed in grocery bags for these families. Delivery to our senior/disabled households was made possible by a group of special volunteers.
VOLUNTEERS MADE IT POSSIBLE
Our volunteers helped by donating their valuable time. Throughout the season, volunteers picked up donated food drive items, sorted food, gifts and did some grocery shopping for those in need. Others helped by providing translation service, loading groceries and gifts into cars, and providing food throughtout the day for the volunteers. The Delaware County community has supported this giving program for more than 50 years. A special "Thanks" to each of you for your help with this program.
