People In Need, Inc. of Delaware County Ohio (PIN) is a private, not-for-profit 501(C)(3) social services agency dedicated to providing emergency assistance to Delaware County residents.

Our Mission: Providing relief to our neighbors in their time of need.

History PIN through the years - Making It Possible

(1954 - 1989)

1954 - Nancy Frankenberg starts Christmas Clearing House to provide food during the
holidays for those in need.

1980 - The predecessor to PIN begins as a food pantry in the basement of Asbury United
Methodist Church.

1981 - The pantry moves to its first dedicated location at 48 S. Franklin St. and
incorporates as People In Need, Inc.

1983 - PIN moves to a renovated home at 274 N. Sandusky St.

1984 - An Executive Director, Emergency Service Coordinator, and a Food Pantry
Coordinator are hired.

(1990 - 1999)

1992 - Moved Christmas Clearing House from the Armory on William St. to the Delaware
County Fairgrounds and increased the number of volunteers.

1997 - Kevin Crowley hired as Executive Director and added a part-time clerical support person.

(2000 - Today)

2000 - PIN celebrates 20 years of serving Delaware County.

2004 - PIN realizes a 43% increase in financial assistance to clients and a 12% increase in meals.

2008 - Launches a capital campaign to purchase a larger facility to better serve Delaware County.

2009 - PIN moves to new 7200 square-foot facility at 138 Johnson Drive, Delaware.

2011 - The mortgage on the building at 138 Johnson Drive is retired.

2014 - PIN celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Holiday Clearing House.

2015 - Pantry services are expanded to provide a Choice Pantry to agency clients.

2016 - PIN obtains BBB Accredited Charity status and became a Guidestar Gold Level participant.

2018 - PIN’s long time Executive Director, Kevin James Crowley suddenly passed away.

2019 - PIN expands its services to the community and completes the Kevin James Crowley Community Services Pavilion.

2020 - PIN adapts services in the community during the Pandemic as a drive-through model serving 441,762 meals to the community.

2021 - PIN expands emergency services to provide mortgage assistance to those impacted by the Pandemic and celebrates its 40th Anniversary.

2022 - PIN increases accessibility to programs offered to those in need in remote areas of the county through online applications for all services and mobile markets.
